Purpose:

To reduce the financial effects of players not honouring their tee time reservations. This policy will aid in maximizing the tee sheet utilization, tee time availability and assist with pace of place. The no-show policy outlines the conditions under how cancellations and no shows are handled.

Policy:

A golfer failing to honour a reservation made in their name shall be designated as a no-show.

A no-show is defined as:

• An individual not cancelling a tee time reservation within the FMGC cancellation parameters (24 Hours) or 
• An individual who made a group booking and who shows up for play with fewer than the number of golfers for whom the tee time reservation was made. 

Exceptions:

If the Club determines inclement weather prevents play, golfers will be exempt from the no-show policy. However, the Club must make this determination, not the golfer. The Club advises all reservation holders to err on the side of caution and contact the Club to cancel their tee time.

Application:

Golfers who fail to show up for their tee time reservations and who do not cancel their reservation within the FMGC parameters in advance of their tee time, will be flagged as a no-show on their account. Any changes to the FMGC parameters must be approved by the Board prior to implementation and will be reviewed annually as part of the budgeting process.

As a no-show, the golfer will be charged the full green fee to the credit card used to book the reservation or to the credit card on account.

In addition, golfers who make a reservation for a group are responsible for all golfers under that tee time reservation. Club members of a group tee time reservation who do not show, will be charged the full green fee amount to their account.

All Shareholder and Seasons Passholder members are required to have a valid credit card on file with the club.

Fort McMurray Golf Club has a full service lounge, event facility, patio, and halfway house which is complimented by 3 on course beverage carts to service the food and beverage needs of any size group. All food and beverage must be provided by the Fort McMurray Golf Club, outside food and beverages are not permitted.

As per Alberta liquor laws, only liquor purchased from the club may be consumed on the property. Staff may inspect golf bags, coolers, backpacks and other items for personal alcohol at time of check in or on the course. Any patrons found with outside liquor will have their liquor confiscated. Patrons will be removed from the property and/or have playing privileges suspended or revoked. No refunds will be given for green fees/cart rentals.

At the Fort McMurray Golf Club we understand that everyone is entitled to their own taste when it comes to fashion. We do ask when visiting the facility you refrain from wearing the following:

• Denim with holes or in poor condition
• Strapless or shoes with heels of any kind
• Muscle shirts – men
• Board shorts / swim trunks
• Exposed midriff or spaghetti straps – ladies
• Shorts with less than 4″ inseam

Gentlemen – Acceptable Dress:

Golf slacks, tailored shorts, golf shirt with collar, sweater, sweatshirt or pullover, jacket and rain gear.

Ladies – Acceptable Dress:

Skirts, culottes, slacks, tailored shorts, blouses, golf shirt with collar, sleeveless golf shirt, sweater, sweatshirt or pullover, jacket and rain gear.

* It is required that all members, their guests, and green fee players wear suitable attire at all times on the course, driving range and in and around the Clubhouse. As dress is a personal matter and as contemporary golfing attire changes from time to time, any questions regarding the acceptability of any particular apparel can be reviewed with the Professional Staff.

Prior to playing a stroke or taking a practice swing, make sure that no one is standing too close by or in a position to be hit by the golf club, ball or debris which may be moved by the club.

To rent a golf cart you must be a minimum of 18 years old, with a valid drivers licence, and valid credit card (Not Visa or MasterCard Debit Cards). Golf carts are to be driven in a safe manner at all time. Maximum of 2 persons/2 sets of golf clubs are permitted per golf cart.

Any misuse or imprudent driving will result in immediate loss of golf cart use with no refunds.

Each player is required to have their own set of golf clubs. Sharing golf clubs is not permitted. Rental golf club sets are available and can be arranged through the pro shop.

• Before leaving a bunker, players should carefully fill in and smooth over all holes and footprints that they made.
• Replace all rakes back in the bunker after playing your stroke.
• Repair all ball marks on the green.
• Repair any damage to the green made by golf shoe spikes.
• Any divots should be replaced and pressed down firmly to ensure proper turf growth.
• Do not take pull carts onto the tee box, green, fringes, collars or aprons.
• Comply with Club rules concerning the use of power carts and dress codes.
• Do not pull a golf ball out of the cup with the putter head.
• Always replace the flagstick when you are finished the hole.

* Do not move the tee box markers. They are repositioned by the Greens staff at regular intervals and should not be moved by anyone other than the Greens staff.

• Play ready golf: first one ready to hit the golf ball does so.
• No one should move, talk or stand close to or directly behind the ball or the hole when a player is addressing the ball or making a stroke.
• Always play a provisional ball if you think the original one could be lost. See Rule 27-2.
• Do not leave your pull cart or golf bag in front of the green when putting out. Place them at the side or towards the rear of the green in line with the approach to the next tee box.
• Once you have putted out, you should leave the green immediately.
• All players should play without delay. Slow play affects the flow of play on the entire golf course and makes the game less enjoyable for everyone.
• Be aware of the position of your shadow when standing close to your fellow player when he/she is playing a stroke. It should not fall over the ball, the hole or line of putt.
• When on the green, if one players ball lies in or near the line of the players ball, the first player should mark his/her ball with a round marker. Measure sideways with their putter head to clear the line of the putt, and then place the marker at the toe of the putter. Reverse the procedure to get your ball back to its original position.
• Record your score away from the putting green, not on the green. This ensures that you are not interfering with the following group playing up to the green.

The Fort McMurray Golf Club does not possess an inclement weather policy or detection system. It is your responsibility to leave the course due to lightning or other weather related circumstances. Golfers are advised that they play at their own risk and we are under no obligation to warn, retrieve or remove anyone from the course due to inclement weather including lightning. Fort McMurray Golf Club is not responsible for injuries or damages resulting from inclement weather.

Overview:

At Fort McMurray Golf Club, we welcome children at and on the course and believe that introducing children to golf at an early age can have a positive effect on children and families. It is also important that children are introduced to golf etiquette at an early age, everyone can enjoy their time at the course, the course is not damaged and that we protect children from being injured on the course.

To help promote understanding of proper golf behaviour and ensure the safety of all patrons, we have implemented this policy.

Children on the Course:

To ensure the safety of children on the golf course, all children riding with adults or playing golf must be able to:

• Wait quietly and patiently, understanding the need to remain quiet while golfers are playing;
• Be attentive to the environment, to be able to avoid being hit by errant golf balls and understand where to stand while someone is swinging; and
• Treat the course with respect, not creating any damage to the course (raking bunkers and walking carefully on and around greens).

To this end, we do not permit strollers or children in baby carriers on the course. Children should be able to walk and be old enough to understand basic golf safety and etiquette in order to be on the golf course.

All children on the course must have supervision and instruction with regard to appropriate behaviour at the course. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult guardian. Juniors 13 and over may be permitted to play without adult supervision if there is adequate assurance that they have a fundamental understanding of the rules and golf course etiquette and are able to walk the course and play without disrupting others. This is at the sole discretion of golf course staff and permission may be revoked at any time. No junior will be allowed to operate a power cart on his or her own.

Fort McMurray Golf Club has equipment available for Juniors to use free of charge when they are on the course or at the practice facilities. All junior golf bags are stocked with balls and tees for the Junior to use while on the course. Golf bags and clubs must be returned in the same condition to the Pro Shop at the end of their round or practice time.

Adults will be held responsible for any damage caused by a child in their care. If the child is not behaving appropriately and causing a disruption to other golfers, damage to the course or there is a concern for the child’s safety, employees have the ability to remove the adult and child from the course. Depending on the situation, this may occur after proper warnings have been provided to the adult and/or child or without warnings depending on the nature of the infraction.

Children in the Clubhouse:

Similar to the golf course, it is important to teach children the proper etiquette in and around the clubhouse. Children in the clubhouse should have appropriate adult supervision to ensure that their behaviour is not disruptive to other patrons. Children who have demonstrated that they understand appropriate course behaviour are welcome, unsupervised, in the Pro Shop and restaurant. Children are not permitted in the locker rooms, maintenance and repair rooms, unsupervised.

It is important to remember that there are hazards in and around the clubhouse, golf carts or errant golf balls could pose a safety hazard if children are not attentive to their environment. Bikes, skateboards or other equipment should not be used around the clubhouse and any such equipment brought to the course should be properly stored where it is not in the way of the golfing or non-golfer traffic.

Children creating a disruption to other patrons, causing damage or behaving inappropriately will be asked to leave.

Overview:

Fort McMurray Golf Club allows small dogs to be brought on the course with their owners while golfing. Permitted dogs must be both small enough to be held in the arms or lie comfortable on a person’s lap and temperamentally predisposed to do so.

Guidelines for dogs and dog owners:

Dog owners must first consider whether their dog is suitable to accompany them for a round of golf. Dogs must be:

• Properly socialized, docile and trained to show obedience;
• Able to wait quietly and patiently; and
• Stays with the owner and is not reactive to noises or golf activity and does NOT chase balls, machinery, carts or people.

Owners are responsible for:

• The behaviour of their dog;
• Ensuring the safety and welfare of their dog;
• Ensuring their dog does not run free either because it is leashed at all times or if carting and the dog stays in the cart, can be unleashed; and
• Cleaning up after their dog and responsible for any possible damage, including but not limited to digging, chewing, or injury to any users of the course or its facilities.

If a dog is not under adequate control of the owner (on leash, being held or staying in the cart), in restricted areas, disrupting any other golfer with barking or bad behaviour, or causing damage or injury, employees have the ability to remove the owner and the dog from the course. Depending on the situation, this may occur after proper warnings have been given to the owner or without warnings depending on the nature of the infraction.

Exceptions:

Dogs are not permitted on the course for tournaments.

Dogs are not permitted:

• In practice areas (driving range, chipping or putting green);
• In or on greens, bunkers, ponds or creeks; or
• Inside the clubhouse, tent, snack shack or on the patio, or any other area where food service might occur.
